still a vegan and seeking work

As you may know I became a vegan on 4 January 2010. This is my 6th week of eating a clean, animal-free diet and I am happy with the results. Much has been written about the experience on this here blog, but I must turn my attention to finding work now.

I need a job.

It’s time I return to the workforce and contribute to the family coffers. Toward that end, I sent out the following email to my contacts today:

Graphic Designer and Social Marketing Coordinator
Seeking Next Challenge

I’m looking for my next position as a graphic designer, social marketing coordinator or combination thereof. My focus is on full-time work, but I am willing to take shorter assignments (including freelance graphic design work: logos, business cards, brochures, and web design). I am interested in speaking with anyone you know in the Seattle or Bellevue area that would be interested in my skills. I am targeting small to midsize companies.

I have a BA in Communications/Advertising from the University of Washington. I have a Certificate in Desktop Publishing from Bellevue College. I have Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver experience and a working knowledge of Flash. I am competent with Microsoft Office.

Social media communications is the future of marketing and I am passionate about its possibilities!

I can help your company use the Internet to serve the marketing and public relations needs of your business. In today’s economy an engaging and interactive Internet presence is key to connecting with today’s business community. Social networks (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) can be used to build interest in your company, form new business relationships, and ultimately, create new customers.

If you know of any business or organization that would benefit from my experience I would appreciate an introduction. To be specific, I am looking for job leads and company contacts. I am interested in doing informational interviews with companies that use my skills.

I can be reached at this email address or by telephone at 425.957.7837

My online portfolio is at and my resume is attached. Feel free to forward my information to anyone who might be interested in learning more about me. I have a personal blog site which can be accessed through my website, and a presence on the social networks LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Delicious, Bizniks and Eastside Entrepreneurs.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely yours,

Connie DeLaVergne
Artist, Graphic Designer and Social Marketing Coordinator

Some of you may have received this email. I hope that tapping into my network will prove to be fruitful, answering online ads sure hasn’t been. It seems that every time I’ve looked for work the job market has been tight. 2010 is no exception! Must be a lesson in perseverance for me. In the past it’s led to starting my own business, beginning with Stencil Accents in 1988. This time I want to work for somebody else.

I want real world experience and to be part of a creative team.

I want to work hard and expand my knowledge and experience. I want to be of service to a small or midsize company and work in a creative capacity to help them grow. I am happy to start in a support position and work my way up and I am ready to begin tomorrow. Please put me in contact with anyone you know who could use my services. They’ll be glad you did!

Hello Banner Design! Thanks for leaving a comment and letting me know you were here.

I may not have the agency experience you seek but my experience is transferable and I have a ton of PASSION! I am enthusiastic, I enjoy putting ideas to action and I am EAGER to join a creative team and do the kind of work it takes to communicate a message and get your clients noticed!

I have not yet been snagged and, therefore, still available for employment. LET’S TALK!
